This Privacy Policy explains how Zen Notes ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. Your privacy matters to us, and the app is designed to keep your data on your own device.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to us or to any third party. The app does not require you to create an account or sign in.

• Your notes: All notes and content you create are stored locally on your device only. We have no access to them and they are never uploaded to our servers.
• No personal data: We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or any other personal identifiers.
• No analytics or tracking: The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools.

2. Photos and Media

When you add photos to your notes:

• Photo storage: Photos imported or captured are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties.
• Text extraction (OCR): When you use the text extraction feature, photos may be processed locally on your device or through a privacy-respecting OCR service. If cloud processing is used, the photo data is not retained after processing and is never used for other purposes.
• PDF export: When you export notes as PDF, the file is created locally on your device for download. No data is transmitted to our servers.

3. App Updates

The app uses Expo's over-the-air update service (EAS Update) to deliver improvements and bug fixes. When checking for updates, the app may send basic, non-identifying technical information (such as the app version and platform) to Expo's servers solely to determine whether a newer version is available. No note content, photos, or personal data is included. You can review Expo's privacy practices at expo.dev/privacy.

3. Permissions

The app requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:

• Camera: Used only when you choose to capture a photo to add to your notes. No photos are taken without your explicit action.
• Photo library: Used only when you choose to import photos from your device. The app accesses only the photos you select.
• Device storage: Used to save your notes and imported photos locally on your device.

The app does not request access to your microphone, contacts, location, or any other sensitive data.

4. Data Security

Because your notes are stored locally on your device, their security depends on your device's own protections (such as a screen lock or passcode). We recommend keeping your device secured. If you uninstall the app, its locally stored data is removed by the operating system.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with anyone, because we do not collect it in the first place.

6. Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As no personal data is collected, the app is safe for users of all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
